Impulse Performance Arts offers dance classes for those looking for a fun, healthy form of exercise once-per-week, as well as dance programs for those looking to perform and compete at elite levels.  Our recreational program offers weekly classes where students learn dance technique, gain strength and flexibility and ultimately, perform at Impulse's annual recital shows. All classes focus on working hard, while having fun.  


Impulse's Competitive Dance Team is an audition-based program where dancers study a variety of dance styles and dedicate many hours to training.  Our award-winning Competitive Team attends competitions throughout the season gaining valuable performance experience.  We invite you to join the Impulse dance family!

educational dance classes for dances aged 2.5 years and up! 

We have classes for every experience level, from beginner to advanced.


Classes Available at Impulse:

  • Pre-Ballet (ages 2.5-4 yrs)
    • ​​​Pre‑Ballet classes introduce dancers to the building blocks of ballet — tendus, plies, ballet walks, building rhythm, coordination, agility, and balance. These classes help dancers develop beautiful posture and early technique in a gentle, encouraging environment. The music used in this class is soft, melodic, and age‑appropriate, often featuring Disney classics and interactive songs like Sleeping Bunnies to keep dancers engaged and moving with purpose. Their year‑end recital dance reflects this sweet, graceful style with a soft, flowing song that highlights their progress. Pre‑Ballet is an ideal introduction for young dancers to gain confidence, foundational ballet skills, and a sense of pride as they begin their dance journey! 
  • Creative Dance (ages 2.5-4 yrs)
    • Creative Dance classes build rhythm, coordination, agility, balance, and all the fundamental steps little dancers need - skips, jumps, gallops, and more. This class blends dance  instruction with imagination, encouraging dancers to explore movement in playful, confidence‑boosting ways.Kids dance to upbeat, age‑friendly music from Disney and popular children’s shows, along with interactive sing-along songs like The STOP Song and If I Were an Animal. Their year‑end recital routine reflects this joyful energy with a fun, lively song that celebrates their growth. Creative Dance is the perfect starting point for young dancers to build skills, confidence, and a love for dance as they begin their journey!
  • Ballet
    • Ballet teaches posture, balance, discipline, and beautiful technique that supports every other style they may explore. It’s graceful, structured, and incredibly rewarding as dancers see their progress week after week. Ballet builds focus, body awareness, coordination, and confidence — skills that support kids far beyond the studio.
      Music used: classical ballet pieces, soft instrumental tracks, and gentle, whimsical melodies that help dancers feel calm, focused, and inspired.

  • Jazz 
    • ​Jazz is high‑energy, upbeat, and full of personality - perfect for kids who love to move big and shine bright. In this class, dancers build flexibility, strength, and strong foundational technique through kicks, leaps, turns, and sharp stylized movement. Jazz helps kids develop confidence, musicality, and performance skills while having a blast.
      Music used: age‑appropriate pop hits, upbeat empowerment anthems, and fun Broadway‑style tracks that make kids feel like stars.

  • Tap
    • ​Tap turns kids into musicians! Dancers learn rhythm, timing, listening skills, and coordination as they create sounds with their feet. It’s energetic, joyful, and fantastic for building musical awareness. Tap strengthens brain‑body connection, boosts confidence, and teaches kids how to stay focused while having fun.
      Music used: age-appropriate upbeat jazz, Broadway classics, and rhythm‑driven instrumental tracks that help dancers hear and match the beat.

  • Acro
    • ​Acro blends dance with gymnastics‑style skills like cartwheels, bridges, balances, handstands, and partner work. Kids build strength, flexibility, control, and courage as they learn new tricks safely and progressively. Acro helps develop body awareness, resilience, and confidence, helping dancers feel proud of their progress.
      Music used: varies from age-appropriate upbeat pop hits to soft, melodic instrumental pieces depending on the choreography and skill focus.

  • Lyrical
    • ​Lyrical is emotional, expressive, and flowy. Kids learn to tell stories through movement, building strength, flexibility, and artistry. It’s a beautiful outlet for kids who feel big feelings or love to express themselves creatively. Lyrical helps kids develop emotional awareness, confidence, and creativity, all while improving technique.
      Music used: soft pop ballads, inspiring instrumental pieces, and age‑appropriate emotional songs that encourage storytelling and expression.

  • Hip Hop
    • Hip Hop is upbeat, energetic, and full of swagger. Kids learn grooves, bounce, isolations, footwork, and fun tricks that make them feel confident and cool. Hip Hop helps kids build coordination, rhythm, self‑expression, and confidence, all in a supportive, high‑energy environment.
      Music used: clean, age‑appropriate pop hits, upbeat hip hop tracks, and empowering rhythms that keep dancers moving.

  • Musical Theatre
    • ​​Musical Theatre blends dancing, acting, and performing - perfect for kids who love to entertain! Dancers explore character work, facial expressions, storytelling, and stage presence, all while learning fun choreography. This class builds confidence, communication skills, creativity, and courage - helping kids shine on stage and in everyday life.
      Music used: upbeat, age‑appropriate songs from popular musicals, kids’ theatre productions, and Broadway‑style tracks.
